Two and a half years ago, I began writing about how the Trump administration and the Republican senate began a plan to drastically change all three of the most powerful courts in the land into a conservative, Trump loyalist majority. Since that time there has been two Supreme Court justices, a record-breaking 43 appeals court judges, and 99 district court judges.
I also stated about how most of these judges shouldn’t be on the bench because they weren’t qualified and the idealology is so extreme, that they become beholden to Trump that it becomes impossible for them to be fair arbiters of justice. They are there to serve Trump and his political agenda. Please read my previous article.
Everyone, except one, (Wendy Vitter) is or was a member of the Federalist Society, a conservative lawyers’ group that has effectively been picking Trump’s judicial nominees for him.
The lower courts are the first stop of defense for cases in the United States. “It is important for the public to appreciate the appeals court appointees serve on courts that are the last resort for 99% of the cases in their regions on issues like capital punishment, abortion, same-sex marriage, immigration, etc.” said Carl Tobias, a University of Richmond law professor and an expert on federal judicial nominations. They resolve 50,000 cases per year while the Supreme Court resolves only 100.
