Where do I begin? There has been so much going on during these past three years that nobody can put their finger on one specific agenda. I should begin with what kind of world are our children going to grow up in? I don’t know what the world will be like, let alone whether we will still have a world.

The United States is in a flux of civil disobedience that some wonder if it can ever be repaired. I don’t know the answer, but we have to find one soon, or what we know as democracy will soon go away. Our model of democracy was the first of it’s kind, a social experiment that would test the boundaries of humanity. People have looked towards the US as a beacon of light, a shining hope for others around the world. Today people have taken our liberties for granted for so long, that we don’t even realize that we are on the brink of losing it forever.

With a pandemic that has killed over 110,000, 40 million unemployed, the entire company at a stand still, and the entire country locked up in their home for over a couple months shattered the nerves of each and everyone of us. Then there was the protesters calling for an end to lock down, with the killing of an unarmed black man by a white police officer, exacerbated the protests with looting, burning, and rioting in the streets, the law enforcement officials (police) killing, trampling, and spray tear gas, rubber bullets against peaceful protesters

Then you have a president that exploited the systemic racism to call on the military to fight against its own citizens.

I remember not to long ago when politics and elections were exciting and that both parties were qualified to an extent to run the country. We didn’t worry as much if a politician went crazy or did something stupid, because we knew there would always be someone there to prevent our country from falling over a cliff over an outrageous agenda. With the election of Donald Trump, that no longer seems to be the case. He has set out to destroy everything that we fought for over 200 years to achieve. His alignment with countries out to destroy America, or the attacks against our allies, and the reshaping of the entire political landscape. He has been on a course to replace everything that we have, just to put his name on it, even take us away from our responsibilities of keeping the world safe, that would be enough to scare even the strongest of men. We now have a government to be scared of because not only do we have a president out to change our democracy, we also have people in charge of other branches of government that has tried to eliminate them.

You have the religious right pushing their own agenda, the corporations buying the power, and the rich paying for our elected officials. They treat us like parasites while they go around poisoning the air, our waters, our parks and national treasures. They are destroying our polar ice caps causing temperatures to rise, and sea level rising that will destroy our coastal cities, and cause destructive weather patterns. Even our enemies are getting a front door pass to our entire political system to manipulate the elections and divide the country. We have seen that come to pass over this past week with the massive protests throughout the entire country.  And don’t get me started on the selective policies of what kind of America are we turning into.

I thought I would never be afraid of the American government in a million years. Donald Trump has brought us fake news, alternative facts, outspoken racism, mass shooting of individuals, and systemic racism with the shooting of unarmed black people by police. We have seen our civil rights, freedom of speech, the right to peaceful assembly, freedom to move around, and our right to protest our government peacefully to air our grievances.  We have seen the constitution being manipulated, one of the branches of government being undermined, another branch being corrupted, and the third branch of government being replaced under the control of our president. We have seen the politicizing of the Judicial system, our circuit courts, the right to a free education, and the separation of church and state being eroded.

We no longer value immigrants and people seeking a new life into the country like what is written on The Statue of Liberty. Now we have to face the destruction of freedom and the very foundation of democracy in America by attacking the Statue of Liberty by saying to the rest of the world “Bring your rich, your successful, your big bank accounts, and leave your tired, poor, your huddled masses, along with the color of you skin at home.”

We have to bring a stop to this carnage, if not for us, then for your children. We can’t leave a world that is torn an broken and expect them to fix it.

I don’t even know what is true or false, or right or wrong anymore, so I ask again what kind of world we are living in today because if it’s this bad now, what’s it going to be  like for your children thirty years from now, or ten years, or even five years from now, what’s it going to be like.

I hope for the sake of humanity that we find the answer to prevent the destruction of our world before it is too late.

 WE MUST REALIZE THAT NO ARSENAL OR NO WEAPON IN THE ARSENALS OF THE WORLD IS SO FORMIDABLE AS THE WILL AND THE MORAL COURAGE OF FREE MEN AND WOMEN. IT IS A WEAPON OUR ADVERSARIES DO NOT HAVE.
